Skateboarding Goods

Skateboarding goods are anything that has to do with skateboarding. This could include posters, videos, shoes, and even night lights. The explosion of the sport of skateboarding over the past decade has introduced a huge commercial market that everyone is trying to get a piece of.

This skateboarding craze has gone as far as introducing new fashion trends. Back to school sales boast large assortments of skateboard related apparel and accessories. With so many people adopting this new style the opportunities to commercialize are endless.

The funny thing now is that what the masses have defined as the “skateboarding” image is not at all what it truly is. Granted this doesn’t keep companies from making boat loads of money off of all the sheepeople who have subscribed to the new craze but it does undermined the heart of the life style (notice I didn’t say sport).

Unlike mainstream sports skateboarding is an individual’s expression of themselves through the art of motion. There are now limits, no rules, and most certainly no requirements. Anyone who wants to can jump on a board and create.

A certain level of infrastructure is required to support the life style of skateboarding but we have to be careful where we draw the line. In my opinion small skater owned shops are the way to go. The second we allow the big conglomerates to be our source for skateboarding goods we loose the battle.

So, next time you are in the market for some skateboarding gear look up the local skate shops and pay them a visit.
